Stapely Family

The Stapely's were my first family session I ever shot over a year ago. It's been a while and I was excited when Jennifer asked me to shoot their lovely family again! Blake, Luke and Emily have grown up a lot and are still cool as ever. The Stapely's live in Arizona and wanted to show off the beautiful state of Washington to all of their friends. You can't say Washington much better than lots of trees and ferns. I was so in!

Kelly is newly engaged and had the wonderful idea to give her fiance, Josh, some rad photos of herself! Josh serves in the military and is currently away for training.

These portraits rocked for many reasons but just so you all know how cool Kelly is; I saw a tennis court and remembered that Kelly used to be a tennis star! So I suggested she go show some guys up on the court...and she did exactly that. Check out her form.

Juli and Geno's wedding very special and intimate. They held the ceremony in their backyard with close family and friends and it couldn't have taken place on a more beautiful day. They met years ago through coaching soccer teams and continued their friendship ever since. Juli and Geno will now have 7 children living together! You two have a wonderful future ahead, congrats.

After many failed attempts from multiple tuk-tuk drivers to reach the Reclining Buddha at Wat Pho we had enough and took a cab. The tuk-tuk drivers want to take their customers to different shops, if you buy something they get part of the cut. We weren't going to play their games!

We ended the night and our trip in Thailand with the finest restaurant the country offers: Sirocco. The restaurant is located on top of Lebua at State Tower. The view was perfect!

Longneck tribes from Burma. The women weave beautiful and extremely colorful scarves, often spending 3+ days making a single one.

This is Manna. Probably my favorite person I met while traveling in Thailand. She is a young girl and her family came to Thailand from Burma a few years ago. She is so nice and I wanted to do anything and everything I could to help her out.

Yes it's big. In fact it is the world's second largest aquarium! This was from the first week in Okinawa. Rachelle, Joe and I took a fun day adventure north on the island and watched the fish. Side note: I also went snorkeling on a different day (Too bad I couldn't swim with these fish).

The aquarium was great and after Joe took us to Four Seasons, a teppanyaki restaurant. Sooooo good!

All I hear, is what's playing through the in-flight radio.

Tomorrow morning I fly home. All 20 hours and 2 layovers. I can't wait to get home! Japan and Thailand were simply amazing!

This was one of the Japanese health officials who collected papers before passengers deboarded. They are still taking quarantine safety measures to track and minimize H1N1 cases.

I'll be finishing up The Kite Runner. I only have 2 chapters left so that will take up approximately 30 minutes of my flight...the rest will be filled with movies.

Video Shootout - 5D MKII

I came across this great (well great except for the language barrier) video that compares the 5D MKII and RED ONE cameras. Worth noting: this video comparison is before the recently announced 5D MKII firmware update that now incorporates the manual exposure everyone has been asking for. It's the dynamic range of the RED ONE that is so very impressive. The first time I saw it being used I was blown away!

BYU SWIM & DIVE Commercial

I was very excited to shoot the BYU swimmers. In high school, before I discovered my love for photography, I was an avid swimmer and water polo player. I played water polo and swam with some sleep and lots of eating in between. It seemed like that's all I did and it was great! Now that I am focusing on photography I only swim occasionally. It felt nostalgic to be at the pool with other swimmers but not suited up. The dramatic lighting setup quickly helped me forget any past feeling and I couldn't wait to take some photographs. I talk a little more about what went on in my behind the scenes post.

The real genius behind the madness is friend and film student Devin Graham of Greenlight Films. I'll post a link when they finish the commercial!

If only I had honed my photography skills when I swam...man I wish I had a photo of me like this.

This is now possibly my all time favorite photo I've taken....

Here are the guys who made the commercial happen: Devin, David, and Jacob (and a bunch of people who were a big help).

BYU SWIM & DIVE - Behind the Scenes

Monday night was great. Intense. My friend Devin Graham of Greenlight Films has been working on a commercial for the 2009 season of the BYU Swim and Dive Team. Let me tell you first hand that it is going to rock! All I've seen is a quick preview from the underwater filming and the day-of that I shot at. I promise you, you haven't seen anything like this.

Devin Graham and his team use the RED ONE digital camera. One word: AMAZING. I was overly impressed with the quality. The video has a magical look and feel, akin to what the Canon EOS 5D mkII offers in photography, for those familiar with SLR's.

The behind the scenes photos I took were so cool I had to make a post just about them. The real photographs are that much better. I can't wait to post them! ps, no I don't think I'm changing my logo...I just wanted a more simple design for these.

As you can see Devin does some pretty serious work. But he also likes to make sure everyone is having a good time!

The viewing tunnel beneath the pool was the perfect place for the interviews. Nice job Greenlight films!

Apparently Pledge is the way the best way to keep the track squeaky clean....minus the squeaks.

Moab Skies

Those of you following my travels know that I am now in Utah. Today is day 10 of living out of my suitcase and it's great! On Wednesday I drove down to Moab with my friend Bill Campbell. We picked Little Wild Horse Canyon as our hike for the day. Thursday we hiked a little under 14 miles, most of which was in the sun! We traversed canyons, cliffs, sand dunes, and the red rock. Towards the end we found an old abandoned mine. The food was amazing; hamburgers, bacon, eggs, Oreo's & milk, and chili. We didn't go hungry!

Nicole, Thomas, and Tegon are a great family! Nicole asked her husband for this lifestyle session as a Mother's Day gift. When Thomas agreed Nicole couldn't have been more thrilled! Until now when she see's the photos :D Tuesday I packed up my gear and headed to Pasco, WA for the day. It was nice to drive over the pass and see the sun shining. You guys are amazing clients! Thanks for a great time.

Tegon is such an awesome kid. So easy to photograph.

There is nothing I love more than taking photos. BUT the 4-wheeling that Thomas took us on made the whole shoot that much more enjoyable!

Lauren and Adam - Engaged

They grew up in the same city. Graduated from the same high school. Meeting through a mutual friend they quickly fell in love. After the first date Lauren was asked "so what do you think?" "He has really pretty eyes!" she responded.

The two are currently living in New York City but plan to settle down here, close to family.

While going over a few details before the wedding we decided to take some relaxed portraits (my favorite). This engagement session was different than most. 1: I only had my 70-200mm on hand since it was spontaneous, and 2: It literally turned into an "engagement" session when Adam surprised Lauren (and ME) with a solitaire diamond to wear next to her wedding band.

Lauren and Adam are such an awesome couple and I was honored to shoot their wedding over the weekend!

In March I decided to do a little shopping (it had been over a year since I had purchased new clothes). On the list were jeans (a comfortable yet stylish pair to shoot in), a few button up shirts and possibly some tee's. South Center was a sure bet since it has the best shops. I just happened to be in the same store as Zach. He gave me some great ideas for jeans! I told him it was important that they were not just good looking but very comfortable because I am a photographer.

Zach is the owner of Image180. He asked me to take photos for his new website. I was excited to work with Zach from the very beginning because I knew our style would meet in a sweet spot of creativity. As a professional image consultant Zach knows style! But it doesn't stop there....he also works with his clients in everything from grammar to posture and hair to makeup. Zach's background is very well rounded. He builds off the the strengths and weakness in each client, never having a one-style-fits-all. I watched him help Brooke and it was awesome to see his work!

If you're thinking about freshing up your look I definitely recommend calling Zach.

Last weekend I had a great time shooting Stefan's senior portraits in his home town of Puyallup. It was a really nice day and I couldn't think of a better way to enjoy it than shooting some relaxed portraits!

While we were shooting in this nice alley, the grooms men from a wedding came out. I had a shoot off. And yes I won. (Notice the photographer in the background).

One Year!

One year ago I purchased my first lens (the wonderfully versatile 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM) and a Canon body! I made a very big step from a point and shoot to my first SLR setup. Prior to my camera's arrival I had only used a friend's 20D on two different weekends. All I had was a deep desire to make fabulous images. I'm no where close to what I want to be as a photographer but I'm working on it! I love relaxed moments that capture my clients showing their true personalities.

Along the way I have experienced moments of success and my fair share of short-comings. It's all brought me to where I am today and I am very thankful for that. More specifically ALL my amazing clients who rock! Seriously you have all made it possible for my dream to come true

Atlee | SENIOR

Atlee's senior session took place at his beach front property in the Key Peninsula and we ended in Gig Harbor just as the sun decided to show up! I met Atlee a few years ago when he tried out for out local club water polo team. He's improved a lot since then and has been the team captain at Peninsula High School the past two years. But here's a few photos from the session. Oh and apparently Atlee has an entourage of females that he doesn't even know!

I enjoyed this session too much so I had to finish the edits fast! Cami and her great BIG brown eyes were very pleasing to photograph. Only 2 diaper changes, food towards the end and lots of running around. Cami is happy and content...until she's hungry and tired! Wait, I think I just described myself :).

Cami's mom: "Usually about every 4 hours."
Me: "Oh that's not bad, I thought it would be worse haha."

One Man's Junk

Is definitely another man's treasure. Those who follow my blog regularly have a good sense for my style. My prefered portrait location has a certain feel: somewhere between edgy and classic, rusty and polished, gritty and clean. Many weeks ago I was traveling out in the boonies and immediately a car caught my eye on the propery of a beautiful field. There is no question the place is run down....it might even need some cleaning before I do a full shoot. Inside the barn I found what could be one of the best on location props I seen yet! Style This

Anna and Kjrsten are 2 of the hippest moms in town. The two sisters are a few years older than I and also grew up in University Place. Friday we had a little get-together in Old Town Tacoma to discuss basic photography technique. Kjrsten (Red) and Anna(Blue) write a blog called Have a Cute Day. There is a post everyday (wow maybe I should learn from them)! It's a great fashion blog that discusses the lastest trends and shows off awesome taste in clothing. Their wardrobe collection is absolutely incredible(Oh and that doesn't even include the shoes). They are looking for more guy fashion out there so drop a line if you're interested in giving your modeling career a jump start!

As they say "it's the accessories that make an outfit". Okay I'm just going to stick to taking photos.

Of course I had to get a few pictures for me. I really like this one complements of Anna.

This was a really relaxed and fun session. I look forward to getting together again in May!

Just take a look at these photos and you will quickly understand Ellie's personality. She is fun, exciting and definitely goofy! But aren't we all :D She spent the day with her grandma and visited the Children's Museum in downtown Tacoma. Before they left Ellie wanted me to take some pictures of her. Her grandma was parked in this sweet parking lot so we went to work!

Ellie, you have a BIG future in modeling! Haha keep working it.

Travel Time

This week's weather forcast is rain and lots of it. So instead of waiting around for the sun I'm working on my travel plans this spring to some great locals! May is going to be busy and I'll be living out of my suitcase :D Contact me ASAP if you're wanting a session in any of the following locations and I we can book a date!

Utah - 1st week of May
I'll be revisiting Moab in Utah with stops in Zion's National Park, and Provo/SLC for portraits. Blake, you know we'll be hanging.

California - 2nd week of May
Malibu. Long Beach. Here I come! I can't wait to see Alex and Tyler. Hopefully I can meet up with some of the photogs that inspire me.

3rd week of May
and the grand daddy of trips....JAPAN! Wow I can't explain how excited I am to visit my sister Rachelle and Joe! Okinawa for 3 weeks with a day or two in mainland Japan; Tokyo of course. I'm offering special "exchange rates" on my photography packages while overseas. More details later.

Rainy Monday - Question

Everyone has one of those days. I do. I don't very often but in an interesting way I enjoy them. The days when you question. Question your work. Question who you are. Question what separates you from others. Question your true influence on those around you. Question your potential, passion, and perfection. Question needs vs wants. Question the past and obsess over the future. Question meaning, lines, colors, faces. Question the who, what, where, when and how of happiness.

It is from questions that I find myself growing. I question then I test. I examine my failures and critique my successes. Trying to fine-tune and polish who I am. Not just my photography. Before I truely discovered my passion for photography I was an avid water polo player and swimmer. I had a three facet lifestlye; eat, sleep, water polo/swim (with continual eating throughout the day :D). No wonder I LOVE food. Senior year I dedicated myself fully to water polo, I was fortunate to win the state championship my teammates and best friends. I carried that emotional high right into swim season. My times steadily improved during the season but I had yet to do something special. Obviously swimming is all about the clock. Our 400 free relay had already qualified for state and I had my eye on the 200 and 500 freestyle for my individual races. I was just off the standard in the 200 free and quite short in the 500 free. The week before the district meet our team began tapering (resting).

I'll eventually get to the point....During the prelims I swam a 1:51.something in the 200 freestyle; seeding me 7th for the Finals two days later. I was very excited because it was a personal best and simply a great way to start out the meet. Because our district is very competitve the top 7 automatically get to go to state even if they don't swim a qual time (almost always they do though). After the diving break I prepared to swim the 500 (my seed time was 5:18). I'm crazy and intense so I was very excited. I remember envisioning the whole race from the start through each turn staying on my predetermined pace of 31 sec per 50 yards. I was pumped! This was my event. Every practice during the whole season I relished distance sets. 10x200 on the 2:20...that's exactly what I wanted. My teammates were more excited about 50's. But the more yards in a set the more I could distance myself from other swimmers (okay maybe not the incredibly fast state-champion-caliber swimmers). When I jumped off the block it clicked. This was my swim. I was nervous-excited because I knew I could make something happen. After my third flip turn I felt very comfortable and fast. I was experiencing a new feeling for the first time. Each stroke I took became stronger. I honestly felt different than any other race in my life. As I swam I recalled practices, yards swam, jokes made, and this desire to do something special. Outside of a constant effort to push myself to my limit during this event, increasing my intensity with each pull, I don't remember much. Coaches faces on the pool deck with hands flailing and my best friend placing the count card infront of me before each flip turn.

When I touched the wall at the finish I couldn't have felt better. When a race is actually your best it feels easy. Too easy. I was breathing hard but my body wanted to swim the entire race again. I swam a 5:07. Fast enough for the chamionship heat and a time that would probably get me to state.

Saturday rolled around and I was ready to do it all over again. All I had to do in the 200 freestyle was finish first in the consolation heat. That would place me 7th overall and give me a state spot. I was more ready than ever. When I jumped off the block everything went out the door. I failed. Not immediately. Too much intensity during my first 150 yards allowed me to lead the pack...then I died the last 50. Crash and burn die. I placed 2nd in my heat, 8th overall. No 200 free at state. Warm down and then prepare metally for the 500 was my gameplan.

"It was my muscles...I didn't envision it....why did I go out so fast....that other swimmer isn't even as fast as me..."

It didn't matter. I was ready for the 500 free. All too soon I could feel my legs give out. I NEED my legs. My kick is constant and steady. When I change into that higher gear it's my kick "kicking in". But I knew it wouldn't be there during that race. What was my easiest race 2 days prior was suddenly my worst nightmare. I merely wanted to finish. Why now. I slipped behind the other swimmers and found myself in last place. Finishing with an atrocious 5:22. Other swimmers from the consolation heat finished ahead of me.

I don't intend for this post to be some inspirational or life changing event story. I questioned myself. I questioned my swimming ability. I questioned my leadership on the team. Did I seriously have my best swims followed by some of my worst. It seems wrong. My coach was quick to remind me of the responsibility I held with the team during the final event: the 400 freestyle realy. The most competive event. The four fastest swimmers from each team are in the water. While I questioned myself, nothing of that day would matter when I stepped up to the blocks during the final race. With a redetermined mindset and my coach's support I finished the meet with a personal best time in the 100 free and a 2nd place finish for our relay.

Now I only question why I question. I often draw parallel's with other photographers which cause me to question. In the end I know it all helps build my determination to succeed. It's always within reach. I love my job. I couldn't ask for anything more rewarding than photographing the lives of others! I am a long way from where I would like to end [insert Becker, James Nachtwey, and Peter Read Miller] but I'm making my way.

I'm excited to work with my clients this year! It's already been a great start and there is only more to come!

Keith and Jenny

This is one couple you need to know! They are absolutely amazing and I had a blast photographing their Washington reception.

What the outside portraits don't tell you is the weather report. It was FREEZING! Not to mention the intense and sideways-blowing wind that cut through even my North Face jacket. Jenny put on a gorgeous smile and you can't even tell that it's 34 degrees. The 3 of us were outside for a mere 5 minutes before calling it quits. Of course I wanted more time with the Bride and Groom but I was happy to capture these photos!

The center pieces looked (and tasted) great.....okay seriously I didn't eat any of the limes.

Yes, that is correct. Keith will be replacing Daniel Craig as James Bond and Jenny will be accompanying. They perform all of their own stunts.

They really are a fabulous couple!

This is one of my favorite shots from the reception. Keith's younger brother Andrew played the guitar while his wife, Alexis, sang Keith and Jenny's song.

A day in the city

Yesterday was a 12 hour work day and I loved it! I was on assignment with The News Tribune staff photographer Peter Haley. He was shooting for the Business Section and the articles are in todays paper.

While Downtown I drove by the Urban Grace Church where I will be photographing a future bride's wedding in April. You will see how gorgeous she is when I take her bridals soon!

Then I shot the Curtis game in the state playoffs last night. I will be at the Tacoma Dome today for their 3:30 game and may stick around for the semi's. Just depends on what I'm feeling. Keep checking back on the blog there will be some awesome portraits later this month!

WIAA Round 2

After an extremely exciting game to open up the WIAA tourney on Wednesday (think Kentucky vs LSU comeback status...well maybe not quite that intense). For high school basketball this was an amazing feat to be down by 12 points with only minutes to go and Darnell Williams hits the game winning shot. The Vikings defeated No. 2 Eisenhower 68-65.

Unfortunately last night was a different story. Curtis "believed", the fans "believed", I 'believed". Even Foss believed that it was very likely Curtis could win. The lead Foss held never was too comforting especially after watching the Vikings win the night before. When the Vikings cut the double-digit-deficit to three points with a shot from Darnell Williams with 45 seconds remaining. Everyone present thought we were in for another comeback! In the end Curtis lost 66-59.

Here is a quick preview. There are way too many good pictures to post but more will follow. The individual player DVD are coming together nicely and will be available at the end of the season banquet.

Straight from Nashville, Tennesse is the aformetioned Andy Davis. Andy performed at the Freemont Abbey Arts Center on the 11th of February. I'm a new fan and strongly recommend his hip/groovy style of folk music.

Touch the Sky - WCD Round 2

This game was spectacular! Curtis faced neighboring school Mount Tahoma. The first half: very close, with Curtis on top by one. During the second half the game only became more grueling. Fans and players looked intently at referees following every whistle to see the call. In large part Curtis can thank their fans, who were nearly double in size compared to Mt T., for the edge that helped secure their birth in the WIAA playoffs.

By the end of the 4th quarter Curtis slipped from a 4 point lead and trailed by 1 with a minute left. Everyone in the gym was on their feet and the Curtis section displayed many emotions starting with excitetment. However the feeling soon grew to nervousness after 2 near turnovers that each ended out of bounds and Curtis ball. On the third posession with seconds remaining the Vikings inbound pass reached #0 Darnell Williams. A dominant force during the game he once again came through with a clutch jump shot to win the game 65-64. Fans rushed the court but 2 seconds remaind on the clock. I would still call it a buzzer beater!

How's this for a Valentine's day? Some rockin' family portraits!

During every shoot I work with my clients in a personal and comfortable manner, bringing out thier true personalites and the inner self that really is just waiting to shine! Haley, Tim and Athen brought their A game on Valentine's for a family portrait session. We had a blast in Tacoma, even though Athen had a few bumps along the way!

Haley is a long time friend and I was honored to photograph her beautiful family.

WCD Basketball Playoffs - Round 1

The Curtis Vikings started the WIAA Basketball Playoffs at home. Hosting what was their last game in the gym, which is to soon be replaced, the Viks went out with a message! Racking up a 30+ point lead over the Lincoln Abes by the 2nd half. (An interesting note, Curtis' Head Coach Tim Kelly previously lead the Abes to 2 State Titles in 2001 and 2002).

The Vikings are half way to the state tournament. They will play one more game tonight at Puyallup against Mount Tahoma. With a win Curtis will gain a seed in the WIAA Playoffs.

The energy was intense on the court and in the stands! A rowdy and often humorous crowd will need to continue to win momentum for the Vikings tonight!

Even with daring acrobatics to save balls Lincoln never stood a chance. The Vikings defense caused numerous turnovers as well as headache for the Abes.

This photograph has been intriguing to me from the moment I took it. Of course you can notice the back-lighting but what really gives it flare is the large natural reflector, not seen in the picture of course. It's literally just a snap shot with beautiful lighting. Can't complain!

February 4, 2009 -- In December 2008 Amtrak police arrested Duane Kerzic who was taking photos with his Canon EOS 5D and Lensbaby at Penn Station in NY. Duane was out taking pictures of trains in hopes of winning Amtrak’s annual photo contest along with the $1000 prize. According to published reports, Duane was standing on the platform taking pictures of the trains as they came and left from the station. As he was walking out of the station, he kneeled down to tie his shoe only to find Amtrak police hovering over him when he stood back up. Duane was arrested after refusing to delete the photographs and was handcuffed in a cell while police "figured out" the charges. It seems that once they realized that photographing in public places wasn't a crime they gave him a citation for 'trespassing.'

The Stephen Colbert report ran a great and very funny "Nailed 'em" segment on this story. Well worth watching (see video below).

The only part of this story that doesn't completely add up is that the Amtrak Photo Contest 2009 ended in July 11, 2008. I guess it could be assumed that Duane was capturing images for the 2010 contest? Either way - it's amazing how 9/11 has affected our security. On one hand it's great to see Amtrak police watching out for us, while on the other hand people looking to take pictures with a camera, in a public place, should never be harrassed - especially when the company itself sponsors a yearly photo contest asking its riders to do just that - take pictures of our trains!"

Space Needle

Another day in Seattle, this one was sunny! The Space Needle couldn't even hide from the rays or my camera lens.

I turned around and right in front was Mitchell. I couldn't even believe this...we inadvertantly found him AGAIN! Next we will be sure to have a picture with us to give to Mitchell.

15 years in WA and I never knew about the wall of GUM. It was covered!! haha. Naturally we contributed a few pieces of our own.

SPSL Showdown

Tuesday night's battle was intense on both sides of the court for the Curtis Vikings and the Decatur Gators. A very close first half was fought that ended with Decatur up 25-24. The second half, however, was a different story. Decatur change their defensive scheme to zone coverage and forced Curtis to shoot from around the arch instead of within the paint. With 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter Curtis closed the lead to 6 points and looked to make a come back. Unfortunately for the Vikings there simply was not enought time. Decatur won 57-48 and increased to a 2 game lead for first place in the SPSL South Division.

Curtis' Chad Rasmussen stuffs Decatur's #12 for a big block in the 4th quarter. It was too little too late against the determined Gators.

Last night's basketball game featured the two Viking teams of the SPSL in Washington State. Curtis defeated the Puyallup Vikings 81-59! Curtis fans chanted all the way until the buzzer, "JUST LIKE FOOTBALL," never allowing Puyallup any momentum. It was an exciting game for Curtis who is preparing for their real challenge of the season on Jan. 27th, Decatur. Curtis lost a very close home game earlier in the season to Decatur 41-45. On the 27th they will meet in Federal Way.

Curtis Viking #0 Darnell Williams steals the ball. Curtis took a double digit lead early in the 2nd quarter and never looked back despite Puyallup's Larson who scored a game high 26 points.

Every photo has a story. This one is no different. For the photo of the month I enjoy picking photographs that have an interesting story to tell and not just a properly composed or executed image.

I have been searching for this park for quite a while and finally located it on this beautiful night. This photo of the Seattle skyline is taken from Queen Ann Hill, with a predominate emphasis on the Space Needle. But I wanted to make sure I included the Seattle Center as well as the Key Arena. Obviously with a long exposure like this you might assume I was using a Gitzo tripod. But in all actuality I found a 22oz plastic Coke lid to prop up the front of my 24-70 L just enough to give some cushion above the space needle. It was a very overcast night! And it turned out to give a perfect red haze to the sky! I loved this night. And I couldn't have done it with out Sawyer, you were a huge help! (thanks for grabbing my battery grip!!)

Over the past 5 years, as I have traveled to new places, I can now say I love Seattle, and Washington and of course my home town of University Place. The clouds and rain used to really get on my nerve. But now I see the amazing vistas in my great state and wouldn't trade them for the beaches of California or the craziness of NY. Every city has something special to offer and Seattle is not left out! The thing is Washington (I don't really include Eastern Washington) has so many things to offer that I truly believe it's the most well rounded state in existence. Sure we get our rain...and lots of it...actually record amounts this week that caused historic flooding! But who cares; the summers are gorgeous and Mount Rainier dominates the horizon even on a partially cloudy day. If you've never been to Washington or spent a day in Seattle you're really missing out! So here are some pictures of my recent excursion with my best friends Maura, Sawyer and Casey. oh it was fun!

I convinced a touristy looking man to take a photograph of Sawyer and I. Turned out pretty good, thanks random street man!

We lingered in Subway for a few minutes only to find that Mitchell had handed the sadwich to the closest bum on the corner...

"Hey the resturant is on this side of the street" "no it's on this side!" "wait they have two within 4 blocks of eachother" who knew.

I finally have a quick preview of Brooke and Ransom's beautiful winter wedding at the Seattle Temple. The reception was held at Steilacoom Town Hall. The snow was definitely an interesting variable for the wedding day but proved to be somewhat fun.

2008 Husky Invite

With a very busy week it seems like I'm getting a little behind in the blogging. I always have more to write but end up cutting it short. I guess it's a good thing to be busy! December 5th was such a great Friday. I was able to photograph the finals of the 2008 Husky Invite swim meet at KCAC in Federal Way, WA.

The swim meet hosted by the University of Washington included participants from Hawaii, Oregon State, Santa Barbara, USC, UC Berkeley, University of Puget Sound, and many others.

Two Olympic Gold Medalists were present; Nathan Adrian of Cal Berkeley (4 x 100 m freestyle relay world record holder - 3:12.23) and Rebecca Soni of USC(200 m breaststoke world record holder - 2:20.22).

The USC men's swim team had a strong presence in most heats. Above 3 USC swimmers prepare to race during the Finals Friday evening.

Okay maybe LENticular cloud is a better way to describe it. Last Friday on my way home I was notified that Mt. Rainier had a really cool cloud structure above the peak. It turns out my home town of University Place, WA was the best place to view the lenticular cloud! Further South or North proved to place the could behind or infront of the mountain. Anyways enjoy!
